LABELS BRANDING - WHAT IS IT SAYING TO YOU?

We are labelled from the day we are born, as stain on our identity we are painted with gender, a family name, and race. It continues bleed in every aspect of our lives, from what we eat to what wear. These label become "our" identity and our place of belonging. So, ever wondered where the phase "Don't judge a book by its cover" came from? I think its a desperate cry for a change in our society's why of packaging each person to easy identify who they are.

We are visual creatures and the use of labels makes it easier to know who people are, so to speak. Let's say you happen to wear a Lacoste shirt, what does that say about you? That you like Tennis, or that you like the little green alligator on this product? Or is something more complex...See the history of Lacoste.

So is a label have a price? I would guess yes, which would explain what makes Lacoste Golf Shirt worth $80. Money itself can be used to judge the level of success, so is that why certain label are "worth" more?

"EYES PERCEIVE THROUGH FILTERS,
INGRAINED THROUGH FINAL PRODUCTION.

VALUED, JUDGED, IN WHAT STANDS BEHIND
WE DESIRE TO BE INCLUDED BY ITS DESIGN.

STANDING ALONE HARDEST TO DO,
CONFIDENCE HOLDS NO ENDLESS BOUNDS.

IN TRUEST FORM, ALL JUDGMENT RECEIVED
NOTHING WILL CONFINE, BUT RATHER STRIVE.

WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE
IT WHAT'S BEFORE YOU?"

Regardless of you think about if it is right or not, we need to get over ourselves and understand that labeling is a way we "package people". I said it before that we are visual creatures, so begin to understand who others are by they way they dress, a precursor to their inner thoughts. What truly makes a great book or person is the contents inside, remember that. The cover just get the person to take interest and open the cover. Never said it is right to judge but it is hard not to. Furthering reading on this philosophy click here.
