IRON TRAIL - FADING RAILROADS

Where has all the horsepower gone?

In Canada, the Trans-Canada network was and still is the main artery of the nation. It had established economy along the routes allowing municipal to flourish. Though as everything does the railway transportation went through the challenges of change. This change has lead to the reduction of routes as transport trucks and airlines haul the cargo across this nation. The once ironclads that hauled endless cargo with pride are now becoming extinct.
As every progression leads to despair and adjustment before an adaptation happens. What we are seeing now is the tracks that cut through the landscape are being removed, and instead of being abandoned they are being transformed.

What you are seeing is communities creating recreational routes for families to get out and enjoy the outdoors, as this is its systemic problem. So, in a weird irony, the railway in its final years is showing the reason why our nation is so great.

CLICK-CLACK, CLICK-CLACK TRAILING
ECHOES OF THE CABOOSE.
LIKE THE DODO, ON THE NOOSE
HUNG, DANGLING AND CINCHED.

LAYING TO REST WITH THE REST
HISTORICAL MONUMENT.
FADES WAY, FORGOTTEN
TO THE YOUTH A FALLEN EMPIRE.

THE IRON TRAIL, ROLLED UP
THROWN AWAY, WALKING THE LINE.
